Clutches

The function of a Clutch mechanism is to automatically unlock and open the outer car doors when the elevator has stopped at the desired floor, preventing the possibility of passengers injuring themselves from accidentally exiting into an empty elevator shaft. Our LWZ Clutch extends at the start of an opening cycle, to fully capture the hoistway door roller release, and then retracts out of range of the rollers when the door is fully closed. GAL Door Clutches are constructed from heavy mass cast aluminum and cold rolled steel, enabling them to withstand millions of cycles of repeated, heavy use on-site.
